Ash St remodel was a very exciting project to be a part of. The home based in downtown Ventura is a historic home with a classic Victorian design. The kitchen was about 12×10 sq ft and limited on space. Cora Pederson “ID by Cora was the interior designer and did a great job.
1. Preparation:
Cleared the area: Removed all appliances, furniture, and personal items from the kitchen.
Turned off utilities: Shut off the water, gas, and electricity to the kitchen to ensure safety during demolition.
Protected surrounding areas: Covered floors and nearby surfaces with protective materials to prevent damage.
2. Removal of Fixtures and Appliances:
Disconnected and removed appliances like refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, etc. disconnected any gas or water lines.
Removed fixtures: Took out sinks, faucets, cabinets, countertops, and any other fixtures in the kitchen. Use appropriate tools to disconnect them from the walls or floor.
3. Structural Demolition:
Demolish cabinets and countertops: We used pry bars, crowbars, and hammers to remove cabinets and countertops from the walls and floor. Being cautious to avoid damaging the underlying structure.
Removed certain sections of flooring:
4. Disposal:
Sorted materials: Separate materials like wood, metal, and concrete for recycling or proper disposal.
Hauling: Loaded the debris into a dumpster for removal.
Recycling: Took recyclable materials to appropriate recycling centers.
5. Clean-Up:
Removed any remaining debris from the floor.
Wiped down walls and floors to remove dust and residue.
Checked for hazards: Inspected the area for any remaining safety hazards, such as exposed wires or sharp objects.
6. Installation:
Cabinets: Installed new cabinets according to the planned layout. Used a level to ensure they are straight and properly aligned. Secured them to the wall studs using screws.
Countertops: Install Dekton countertops according to the design. This involved cutting and fitting the countertops to size, as well as securing them to the cabinets with adhesive or screws.
Appliances: Installed new appliances, such as a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Made sure they were properly connected to plumbing and electrical lines.
Flooring: Sanded ove
r existing flooring and replaced certain sections with flooring that would match the existing flooring once it was stained.
Backsplash: Installed backsplash above the countertops along with tile on the walls which protected the walls from spills and splashes.
Finishing Touches: Applied a fresh coat of paint to the walls to complete the look of the kitchen.
Trim and molding: Installed trim and molding around cabinets, countertops, and other edges for a finished appearance.
Lighting: Install new light fixtures, such as overhead lights, under-cabinet lighting
